Creativity Challenge 2
This
week's challenge is meant to provide practice with the use of one
creativity concept and one creative thinking or idea generation tool.
Creativity
Concept: Edward de Bono's "PO"
Tool:
my A to Z
Step
One
Take a piece of paper, your email screen, your computer
screen so that you are not on line while doing the exercise and write
A to Z.
Step
Two
Now think up or look up professions or occupations that
start with the individual letters (i.e.: a=architect, b=baker, bricklayer, bonds salesperson, etc.)
Think
up or look up one for each letter, 26
in
all.
Step
Three
Put
the list away out of sight.
Step
Four
Write
to me to say you are ready for the challenge or to become involved as
a reader & writer or reader alone.
Step
Five
Edward
de Bono's creativity tool "PO" lets us imagine that
anything can be true. When using PO you simply write out statements
that would normally seem absolutely impossible. Then you write the
de Bono word PO immediately following your statement and accept it as
possible. Then you work on creating ways to make it possible.
Combining PO with my tool A to Z you can do one of two things at least.
One
Randomly pick a profession, a to z then practice writing PO statements that might fit that profession.
i.e.: architect
"Buildings
can be built in 6 hours or less. PO"
Then you work on generating ideas that might make the statement possible.
Second
Create a list of 12 or more PO statements then randomly choose a profession, a to z and then generate ways that profession might accomplish the PO challenge.
"Buildings can be built in 6 hours or less. PO"
c, l, f, m, p
cartoonist
lawyer
finance consultant
mason
plumber
How may these professions possibly make the statement become true.
The
principle behind PO and A to Z is the generation
and
use
of
provocative statements to help spark ideas and
creative
changes
of
thought in order to change perspective or mindsets.
Hope
this helps
Thanks
for joining the CC family.
