Alan's Creativity Challenges 2003-17
Each Image Can Produce a 1,000 WordsOften the quote in English is heard in many countries: "A picture is worth a 1,000 words". Let's practice with that this week. Select a collection of images, cartoons, doodles, symbols, drawings. MONDAY Pick up a newspaper photograph and write at least 1,000 words about it. Just write. Your writing does not need to be grammatical or end up a gradable piece of writing. Simply write. TUESDAY Pick out a scene involving 2 or more people around you and write at least 1,000 words about it. Just write. Your writing does not need to be grammatical or end up a gradable piece of writing. Simply write. WEDNESDAY Pick up a magazine and randomly select a photograph or two and write at least 1,000 words about it or them. Just write. Your writing does not need to be grammatical or end up a gradable piece of writing. Simply write. THURSDAY Look through a children's picture book and write at least 1,000 words about any one or combination of the pictures or drawings. Just write. Your writing does not need to be grammatical or end up a gradable piece of writing. Simply write. FRIDAY Let your mind wander visually into your past. Once you see a scene or image that is powerful write at least 1,000 words about it. Just write. Your writing does not need to be grammatical or end up a gradable piece of writing. Simply write. The goal is to practice your abilities to communicate through words about images and to be creative in writing. If you are visually challenged use your 3rd eye to experience images of various types for each of the assignments. Please send examples of your results. I'll collect them and share them all later with your approval. Have a fun week by tremendously support of the creativity that surrounds you.
