Parallel Worlds

Creativity Challenge 41

This Challenge comes from Michael Michalko's book THINKERTOYS published by 10 Speed Press ISBN 0-89815-408-1

"PARALLEL WORLDS" pgs 231-238

Parallel Worlds is a "Direct Analogy" idea sparking or generating tool.

1. State your challenge...

In What Ways Might We Promote the use of creativity in our workplaces?

2. Choose a key word or phrase in the challenge

"promote"

3. Choose a parallel or distant field.

4. List the images that you associate with the chosen field(s) then choose one or more particularly rich ones. List and describe the chosen analogy (field) in as much detail as possible.

ie computer field: science, multiple uses, user-friendly, hardware, software, add-ons, computer-aided design, schools, business uses, and recreational uses

5. Look for similarities and connections between the two components of your analogy. Let your ideas come and go easily DO NOT FORCE them.

I.E: multiple uses, user-friendly, business uses, personal uses

IDEA: create examples of multiple uses of user-friendly creativity showing business and personal uses.

Your challenge is to create a list of 12 to 60 different fields to choose 1 to 6 from and then work this THINKERTOY for one of your challenges and SHARE with the list or send directly to me.
