Your Future a Creative Source

Creativity Challenge 1998 #50

Tis cold, clouded over and rainy here in Athens, Georgia today. A distinct change from the beautifully, record-breaking warm and sunny weather we have had for two or three weeks, similar to what I understand many of the other parts of the US have been experiencing.

The challenge I am offering this week is for you to use your imagination just for fun each day. Spend 15 to 30 minutes imagining what your life may or could be 10 years from now. Where might you be? What might you be doing? Who might be in your circle of friends then?

To spark your imagination you might flip through magazines; you might watch the travel, discovery, or other channels that have shows on innovation or the future with the sound set to mute. You might sit in a park or the lobby of an office building or hotel or in an open area or food court of a mall and in your mind pick people randomly and imagine if you were them what might you be and what might you be doing in 10 years.

Deliberately let go of limitations or "tombstones of creativityª" (killer phrases) that pop into your mind. Stay as positive, optimistic and open as you can. Simply imagine.

Write them down if you choose.

Challenge yourself to imagine a dozen to a dozen dozen things a day.

Have a wonderfully creative and meaningful week.
