Let Your Senses Create for You!

Creativity Challenge 1999 #10

While traveling to and from a storytelling festival in La Grange, Georgia this weekend, the 4th Azalea Storytelling Festival, I was listening to tapes I purchased from the National Speakers Association's Eastern Winter Workshop the previous weekend.

One of the tapes was about audience involvement techniques. The speaker shared with her audience about how we generally communicate and how we generally learn. The senses we use most seem to be seeing, hearing, physical (doing).

This week let other people's creativity teach you to be more creative.

Each day choose an object and collect or recall 12 different examples of it, for example: a paper clip.

Collect 12 different paper clips.

Then note how they are different from each other.

Note how they are distinctly different or creative from the standard paper clip.

Do this each day with a different object. Consider simple objects that you might have in your own home or workplace.

At the end of the week review your notes to discover which sense(s) were used the most to produce the creative result. Sight, touch, smell, taste, sound, movement.

The discovering/learning from this Challenge is to add more senses to your solutions and ideas in order to produce more creative results.

Have a creative week. It is always your choice to.
