There Are Many Realities, Perhaps Over 6 Billion

Cre8ng™ Challenge 2000-02

Reading a few pages in Brugh Joy, M.D.'s book Joy's Way, published in 1979 getting prepared for a workshop with him at Winterfest in a couple weeks I was sparked to create this Challenge for those of you who choose to try it.

"Only a small portion of any total experience reaches our conscious awareness." paraphrased

While you eat breakfast, lunch on dinner this week focus on separate senses as intensely as you can. This will probably best work when you are eating alone, probably separated from other people. While you are eating, choose a sense and focus specifically on it related to your meal.

  1. see it - focus on all the visual aspects
  2. hear it - focus on all the sounds related to the meal and the total experience of eating that meal
  3. smell it - focus on all the smells related to the meal and the total experience of eating that meal
  4. touch it - focus on all the textural sensations related to the meal and the total experience of eating that meal
  5. taste it - focus on all the tastes: sweet, sour, tart, etc.
  6. feel it - focus on all the emotions tied to the meal, the specific food items: current and past for you
  7. experience and focus on the aesthetic nature of the meal and the experience.

If you eat lunch out you may try different types of restaurants: ethnic: Italian, Japanese, Thai, etc or varieties of styles of restaurants from fast food to very posh and exclusive.

These experiences will prepare you to apply the same process or challenge to any problem you need to work on or to any solution you have created while you are testing it or applying it.
