It's More Than the Pieces

Creativity Challenge 2000 #31

Last week I heard several excellent motivational speakers from the past, present and near future ranging from Charlie "Tremendous" Jones to Zig Ziglar to Rene Godefroy. One message 'piece' they all share is the importance of having a clear picture of our goals that we seek. Let's approach this in reverse without a clear picture of our final goal or result.

Search through your closet, ask some friends or go to your local discount toy store and acquire 5 different picture puzzles ranging from an 8 to 12 piece to perhaps a 100 piece.

Monday

Put a large piece of cardboard or railroad board on a table or counter area where it can stay for while without being in the way. Then open up the 8 to 12 piece puzzle box and place all the pieces randomly on the card board blank side up. Mix them up some more. The put the puzzle together without looking at the picture on the box or on the individual pieces.

Once you complete the puzzle turn it over. Using another piece of cardboard or a piece of glass may help you in turning it over.

Then look at the picture. Did it turn out just like the box?

Tuesday thru Friday

Choose a puzzle with progressively more pieces to it each day and do the same.

While you are doing this Challenge continually ask yourself what am I possibly learning about problem and puzzle solving that will help me to solve future ones?

Have fun.
