Creativity Challenge 2001 #33

This week my sparking source is

THE WRITER'S IDEABOOK by Jack Heffron

I simply opened the book randomly on page 169 and read "Use a framing device….The Wizard of Oz and the following Challenge was created.

Choose 5 different favorite fictional books from your shelves or memory. Assign each book to a separate day.

Take a few minutes each day to recall the book: story line, plot, problems solved, main characters, setting.

MONDAY Today choose one of your books and recreate the book working backwards from the ending while changing some aspect at every turning point in the story.

TUESDAY Take today's book and change the time frame from past to present, present to past, past to future and think about how that would change aspects of the book.

WEDNESDAY Take today's book and see how anything about it is like one of your current personal challenges. Examine how many similarities you can find in the book.

THURSDAY Take today's book turn the main characters into people you know personally and think through the book and how it might change because of them.

FRIDAY Take today's book and change it into a science fiction book or some other form of book other than what it is. Close your eyes and imagine the book from beginning to end.

Use your imagination as often as you can this week and grow more creatively.
