Bucky Did It, Why Not You?

Creativity Challenge 2002 #36

Many years ago while I was an architectural student I read several books and articles about and by Bucky Fuller. One of his common traits was to make up his own words when English did not have one that fulfilled his need.

Over the past 40 or so years I have noticed this trait in other intense thinkers in many fields.

Let's play with one approach by using Prefixes this week and Suffixes next week.

Use the following list of Prefixes to create new words each day. Select 6 prefixes randomly and apply them to 6 to 12 words each day and create some new words. Carry your chosen daily Prefixes with you all day long and experiment making up new words with new more specific or broader meanings.

Please share your new words.

a not, without a to, towards ab away, from ad movement to, change into

addition or increase ante before preceding anti opposing, against be all over, all around, completely com with, jointly con opposite (Congress, Progress) contra opposition, opposite direction

de down, away, removal dis negation, removal en put into, bring into ex out, upward, previous extra outside, beyond hyper beyond, more than hypo under in not, without infra below inter between, among intra inside, within non absence, negation ob blocking, against, concealing out surpassing, exceeding over excessively, completely peri round, about post after in time or order pre before in time, place, order or importance pro favouring, in support of re again semi half, partly sub at a lower position

lower in rank syn in union, acting together trans across, beyond, into a different state ultra beyond, extreme un not under beneatrh, below, lower in rank, not enough

These of course are all English and probably USA English versions.

Are prefixes used in similar fashion and ways in your country if you do not live in the US or other English speaking countries? What might be an example of your Prefixes and how they change the meanings of the original words?
