Alan's Creativity Challenges 2003-02

No Matter How Often You Look

One of the 4 primary measures that have been used to examine Creative Thinking by
E. Paul Torrance with his various TTCT-Torrance Tests for Creative Thinking is
ELABORATION, the amount of detail.

Let's practice the week with expanding our abilities to elaborate.

Also to explore your best "creative thinking times" choose a different time each
day to work on the Creativity Challenges: right when you wake up, breakfast,
mid-morning, lunch-time, mid-afternoon, immediately at the end of the day, dinner
time, after dinner, just before you fall asleep. Each day choose a different time
to ELABORATE.

MONDAY
Choose an object in the room you choose to work in. Write down every sensory
detail you can experience using your all senses or can think of:
i.e.: a young child's wooden block, 6 sides, specific dimensions, weight, painted
details-each side different, no smell, taste is not enjoyable, etc.

TUESDAY
Pick up a newspaper, magazine or book. Write down every sensory detail you might
be able to experience using your senses.

WEDNESDAY
Choose an event you hear about on the radio or television. Write down every
sensory detail you can think of related to it.

THURSDAY
Choose an animal. Write down every sensory detail you can think of related to it.

FRIDAY
Choose the place where you are. Write down every sensory detail you can think of
about it.

Each time you feel you have written all that you can write, write 3 to 6 more
items. Push yourself 3 to 4 times until you have exhausted everything you can
experience or think of.

Many breakthroughs in various fields have come from people simply noticing what
others have not notice. Notice more this week.

Happy New Year Cyberspace friend.

May this week, month and year be your most creative.

Alan
