Alan's Creativity Challenges 2003-15

Create With Just a Few Words

My first job was as a news writer who wrote headlines for flashing headline
machines located on different buildings in Detroit and a television show called
Fun News. Each day I had to scan the latest news on the UPI and AP wires and
choose 10 to 12 of the most significant and then write headlines that told as much
as possible in one, two or three lines.

This week let's work on our verbal-written creativity having fun re-writing
headlines.

MONDAY
Pick up a newspaper and rewrite as many headlines as you can in 15 minutes.
Improve them. Make them funny. Make them strange. Focus on being as creative as
you can.

TUESDAY
Pick up a news magazine (Time, Newsweek, US News and World Reports, etc) and
rewrite as many headlines as you can in 15 minutes. Improve them. Make them
funny. Make them strange. Focus on being as creative as you can.

WEDNESDAY
Listen to the radio news on your favorite station and rewrite as many headlines as
you can in 15 minutes. Improve them. Make them funny. Make them strange. Focus
on being as creative as you can.

THURSDAY
Watch your favorite local television news program and rewrite as many headlines as
you can in 15 minutes. Improve them. Make them funny. Make them strange. Focus
on being as creative as you can.

FRIDAY
Pick up a favorite magazine you read and rewrite as many article titles as you can
in 15 minutes. Improve them. Make them funny. Make them strange.

Focus on being as creative as you can.

The goal is to practice generating creative thinking through the use of words,
spacing, punctuation, capitalization, etc.

Please send examples of your results. I'll collect them and share them all later
with your approval.

Have a fun week by tremendously support of the creativity that surrounds you.

Alan
