Alan's Creativity Challenges 2003-36

Spark Your Creativity Thru Difference

Back in 1978 when I went to my first Creative Problem Solving Institute I was
first exposed to how many people have and do spark their creativity.
Throughout the wwek-long conference various concepts, exercises and tools
about creativity, creative thinking and creative problem solving were shared
that were all completely new to me.

One of the concepts was that simply doing things differently could cause you
to become or be more creative.

Let's experiment with that this week. Each day use your 15 to 30 minute
Developing My Creativity time to generate lists of difference or living
differently.

MONDAY
Today make a list of as many ways as you can for how you might travel
differently from home to work, school, shop, visit friends, etc. Then use one
of
the ideas from your list to travel differently during the day.

TUESDAY
Today make a list of as many ways as you can for how you might look
different during the day. Then use one of the ideas from your list during the
day.

WEDNESDAY
Today make a list of as many ways as you can for how you might read that
are different from what you usually read. Then spend 30 minutues to an hour
reading that different material.

THURSDAY
Today make a list of as many ways as you can for how you might eat , prepare
meals, or the food you might eat. Then set aside one meal to have it be
different in many ways.

FRIDAY
Today make a list of as many things you might do on a FRIDAY evening or over
a weekend to have fun. Then choose one and simply have fun on FRIDAY
night or over the weekend.

Things that are creative are different or done differently. Things that are
different or done differently may lead to creativity.

Have fun generating your possibility lists and then using some of them each
day.

Report back any discoveries.

You probablly ought to remember to keep withiin societal rules, laws, morals
and physical limitations and avoid things that may hurt you or others.

Alan
