Relational Words

Creativity Challenge 31

Using CHECKLISTS is an excellent way to generate ideas or to break mindset or change perspective.

In his book 101 CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING TECHNIQUES, James M Higgins on page 98 thru 100 depicts "Crovitz's Relational Wrods" as an idea generating technique.

He suggests we use a series of questions to examine our problems by simply changing one word in our basic question.

Here are a sample of the relational words he suggests

About, Across, After, Against, Among, Between, Near, Not, Opposite, Through, Under, Where

He suggests we inject one of these words (and others) into the basic question to create a series of questions.

What is (blank -- inject word here) this problem? (additional words may need to be added to make complete sentences)

As with the other 30 CC's the purpose of this Creativity Challenge is to offer you an opportunity to learn a new creative thinking tool/technique and to encourage you to practice and build your creative thinking skills.

So...........

This week's Creativity Challenge is to take a problem of yours and write 6 to 12 questions using "Crovitz's Relational Words"

I.E.:

What causes creative blocks?
What is (about) creative blocks?
What is (after) creative blocks?

Try writing 6 to 12 different questions and discover what new ideas or perspectives you develop.

Have a creatively great week.
