Adding Color to Your Life

Creativity Challenge 1998 #16

A recent discussion on the CREATIVITY list helped spark this tool for sparking or rejuvenating creativeness.

Noah Webster says...Color

3. vivid or distinctive character
6. outward appearance or aspect
8. to cause to appear different from reality
Take these definitions 1 or in any combination and "Add Color to Your Life".

Consider all aspects of your and your life.

physical
visual
audible
tactile
gustatorial
olifactorial
emotional
one, two, three, four dimensional

Choose one aspect of your life and add color.

In a workshop by the same name at CPSI a few years ago I asked the 20 to 25 people present to "Add Color" to their lives. During the 90 minutes we experimented with adding color to our lives. We started by noticing the "color" in our lives. We examined the room for everything that was blue. Then every rectangle in the room, every circle, every curved line, etc.

Then we added color to our walks, taking off on John Cleese's "Funny Walk" routine.

Towards the end participants wrote down as many ways they could add "color" to their lives. Then they shared their thoughts with a partner and then we sampled around the room.

Add "color" to your life this week.

Share how you have added "color" to your life recently and how doing it expanded or sparked your creativity.

Have a "color-filled" week.
