Clouds of Knowledge

Creativity Challenge 1998 #33

Image yourself inside a wonderful cloud, cloud of knowledge and experience that represents everything you know and have ever learned, whether you know it or not. You cannot see beyond this wonderful cloud. Outside your cloud is a sphere of all the paradigms you life by. Beyond that is an outer sphere of principles of knowledge.

Throughout our lives our clouds grow larger (hopefully that is). Hopefully our spheres of paradigms become thinner and thinner (hopefully they disappear). To be creative. To make break throughs we need only "see through" our clouds of knowledge, beyond our paradigms and to the principles.

Your challenge this week is to take 10 to 15 minutes each day to peer through your cloud of existing and growing knowledge, past your paradigms or the paradigms of your cultures (personal, social, professional, religious, educational, etc.) to principles and discover or create "breakthrough" ideas.

An example for me could come from my years as an architect. I peer through my cloud of knowledge to design a door, doorway, entrance to a building or residence. I deliberately break through the sphere of paradigms of my profession, my clients, the contractors to view the principles of door, doorway, entrance, penetration, barrier opening.

Using the principle I can create a totally new concept for entering a building or residence.

To experience unique building entrances visit the work of Bruce Goff, Oklahoma architect.

Have a creatively fun week.
