Be Different, Do Different to Be Creative

Creativity Challenge 2000 #36

This Challenge is a simple one that may produce great results for you. It may also prove to be very challenging.

  1. Start by making a list of 15 things you do habitually each week.

    1. drive to work
    2. shave or put on your make-up
    3. eat your meals at specific times
    4. put your clothes on in the same sequence
    5. watch the same television shows
    6.
    7.
    8.
    9.
    10.
    11.
    12.

Use these and fill in the remaining 7 or create your own list of 12 things you have particular habits about doing.

  2. Write the 12 items on index cards, one per card.

  3. Shuffle the 12 cards several times.

  4. Deal 5 hands of 3 of the cards.

  5. Without looking at any of the hands paperclip them in sets of 3 or put rubber bands around the 5 sets.

  6. Randomly choose one for each day and mark the set with the day of the week.

  7. On Monday pick up the 3 and choose to deliberately do each of the 3 habits in new ways or order.

At the end of the week make notes of how you felt doing the different things differently.

Have a creative week.
