Paneling Along to Creativity

Creativity Challenge 2001 #20

2001-19 asked you to collect photos and use them as idea sparkers. 2001-20 is asking you to collect several different 3 to 4 or 5 panel cartoon strips (rather than the single or two panel cartoons: Dennis the Menace, Ziggy).

First collect a week or two of newspaper cartoon pages from your local paper. Then cut up the pages into individual strips. Next step cut up the strips into individual panels. Finally put all the individual panels into a box or bow and mix them throughly.

Each day select 4 to 6 sets of 3 to 5 individual panels from separate cartoon strips. Lay them out on a table or tape/glue/stick/clip the panels next to each other in the order you picked them on a board or sheet of paper.

Your daily challenge is to make stories out of the newly randomly formed separate panels.

Also look for AHAs that may occur by the integration of unrelated thoughts and stories.
