Through Wandering Let Yourself Experience Being Creative

Creativity Challenge 2002 #30

The past couple weeks I spent 2 days wandering around 3 of the parks at Disney World: MGM Studios, the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT; 4 days at a convention of professional speakers (over 1700) in Orlando; driving back and forth (7 to 8 hours each way) from Athens to Orlando; flying to Detroit, renting a car, driving to one of my brother's homes to spend great time with him and my niece, driving from Warren, Michigan to Midland, attending a creativity conference at the Alden B. Dow Creativity Center (Dow was an excellent architect who studied the work of Frank Lloyd Wright and was a relative of the Dow Chemical family), wandering around beautiful Midland.

Every where I turned there was creativity happening. Nearly every moment there were opportunities to use and expand my own creativity for the past two weeks.

So this week the CHALLENGE is to EXPLORE, WANDER, VISIT, TOUR places you haven't been in a long time or totally new places. They may be museums, galleries, tourist spots, amusement parks, bowling alleys, libraries. You can EXPLORE, WANDER, VISIT, TOUR physically or virtually. If your schedule this week doesn't provide you time to go somewhere, whether in your town/city or in another state, province, etc, country go to your bookshelf or a library and take down a collection of books, picture books preferred and EXPLORE, WANDER, VISIT, TOUR virtually using your eyes, mind and heart.

I recommend that the places be new or places you have not been in a long time.

Instead of the typical 15 to 30 minutes for this daily Challenge this week allow yourself a couple hours in a block of time or at least a series of smaller blocks of time. Get up earlier and take a drive somewhere you haven't been or haven't been in a long time before you go to school or work. Go watch the sunrise on a lake or other body of water. Go to a hill or mountain top and watch the sunrise on the area. Or sunset.

Chose to EXPLORE, WANDER, VISIT, TOUR somewhere totally different each day.

As you EXPLORE, WANDER, VISIT, TOUR be open to experiencing the creativity around you. Be ready to use your creativity when something occurs.

When you return from your daily EXPLORING, WANDERING, VISITING, TOURING take some time to write in your creative journal what you experienced and learned.
